001_The Bench Project
What if?
Have you ever asked yourself that question? Which one, you ask. Well the title of course: What if?
What if that bench wasn't mossy and rotting away. What if the rust was covered with white paint?
When you ask yourself, "What if?" you begin to think. And thinking leads to doing. And that is exactly what we did.
My brother, The Iron Fisher and I decided to take on our very first renovation project when our Dad spotted an old swing bench on the side of the road.
The whole bench was covered in this aging moss like substance. So we sanded it off.
This is a timelapse of us doing that very thing. Someone had the idea to take the boards off and sand them individually. Watching the moss disappear and reveal clean wood underneath was surprisingly satisfying. I cleaned up the frame a little and painted it white. I've made a gallery of photos to showcase our progress on the gallery page if you are interested. Click the link below to view.

Once everything was prepped, we sealed the boards with clearcoat to protect them and bring out the natural wood grain.

Love it!
ReplyDeleteI had a thought: "what if I become a grammar police?"
You missed a question mark here: "What if that bench wasn't mossy and rotting away." and "Dad" should be lowercase. :)
